A toda la gente, that means all you fiber crafting folks, a hearty welcome y un abrazo de todo corazon/a big hug from my heart. ¡Bienvenidos!
I opened La Serena Tejera in 2019 with one adorable flower crown wearing clay creation. You may recognize the florals in her braids and the rebozo wrapped round her shoulders, but mi amiga/friend was different. She had a special, you could say secret stash of power at her disposal. She, like all of you, can knit, crochet, spin, sew and yes, she even cumbias !
Since then, La Serena Tejera, which translates from Spanish to English as, "The Serene Knitter" and whose Aztec inspired logo and name is a play on the Spanish word for mermaid "Sirena", has steadily grown to include more Latinx flavor stitchmarkers, notions and even a fiber themed card game that celebrates Latinx culture.
La Serena Tejera continues to stretch its colorful maiz mermaid self by expanding its fiber themed offerings to include: notecards, clothing, totebags and accessories.
La Serena Tejera re-stocks happen 4 times a year, Spring, Summer, Fall and the Holiday/Winter Season. All clay items are handmade by one person in small batches for quality control and because, well, tu sabes amigas, I'm no machine, just one artista trying to make a living from her art.
